Now I See You

Throughout the years, both my children have celebrated milestones at approximately the same rate. Both slept through the night at 8 weeks (praise the Lord, because I don't think I could stand one more night of interrupted sleep), ate baby food at 4 months, walked at 11 months...the list goes on and on.

Today, marked yet another milestone...Miss Monkey got her first pair of glasses. (Well, actually, she got two pairs, but that's just a minor technicality...I love a good sale you know)

I'm hoping her experience goes a little smoother than her brother's. He got his glasses right after 2nd grade started, and his eye doctor told him he should wear them in class (but could take them off for gym and recess). Somehow, Mr. B interpreted that as he didn't have to wear them in class...and he didn't for weeks (or perhaps more likely was the fact that he was a bit embarassed to have to wear glasses). That is until I had my first parent teacher conference...

His teacher started to describe how he was having problems with questions written on the board and asked if I'd had his vision checked.  I was a bit surprised to hear this and asked if he was wearing his glasses all the time in class.

Then his teacher responded, "I didn't know he wore glasses. He's never worn them in class."

Busted, little man!

I don't think Miss Monkey will have that problem. She anxiously told her teacher and best girlfriends that she was getting her glasses today.

She got two slightly different pairs (but was not super cooperative with my photographing her for very long.)

She's already received compliments (including when her brother told her that her glasses looked AMAZING!). I might be a bit biased, but I think she looks darling!

Oh, you guys picked out some great glasses. They look fabulous on her. I always wanted the look of those, but they looked terrible on me!
