Time really seems to be flying by in 2009, as it's February already. Mr. B is now in the midst of his basketball season and his team is off to a 2-0 start. It nice that he seems to be on a winning team for once and he is enjoying every minute of it. Now that they're in the 5th/6th grade league, they have two practices every week and a game at 10 a.m. every Saturday until mid-March (whoever wants to come see him play at the middle school are welcome to join us in cheering him on.) He isn't a big scorer (only scored once in two games) but he's a pretty scrappy defensive player (just like his momma was ;o)
Both kids brought home good report cards last week. Miss Monkey proudly exclaimed that she had all "S's" and that she did better than Mr. B. Of course he quickly responded that he was in fact smarter and that 5th grade was "way harder than 1st grade."
This week we had pretty hefty winter storm dump more than a foot of snow on us in a 24 hour period. That wouldn't normally be a problem, but Mike was out of town and I didn't know how to use the snowblower. After getting my car stuck halfway up the drive we had to shovel for about 45 minutes before we could get it in the garage and after dinner, it took another 45 minutes to get a narrow path shoveled so I could get out the next morning. Needless to say, Mike has given me a lesson how to use the snowblower and it shouldn't be a problem in the future.
Today is going to be a "warm" day her in Northeast Ohio with temps going up to 40. I think I'll take the kids to Punderson state park to go sledding with some friends...They certainly are getting a little stir crazy being cooped up with this weather.
