A heavy heart

This past week, I've had a heavy heart. For a family I don't even know.

It started when word of sweet Madeline Spohr's passing quickly surged through the blogs I follow. My heart immediately ached for her parents, Heather & Mike Spohr, at the unexpected loss of their 17-month old angel.

As a mother, I can't even imagine the pain they are going through. While I believe that Maddie, with her captivating blue eyes, is dancing and playing in heaven, I also know that this is an extremely sorrowful time for her parents, family and friends.

How do they deal with a loss of this magnitude? Why, Lord, do they have to?

A wonderful community of fellow mommy bloggers/tweeps have rallied their support around Heather and her family. I have watched in amazement as the outpouring of love and affection has steadily grown. Thousands upon thousands of visitors flooded Heather's blog, so many that it overwhelmed her server. Countless people have donated to the March of Dimes in Maddie's honor. Hundreds are organizing teams to walk in her honor. And many are honoring Maddie by turning their blogs purple.

In Maddie’s memory, please support the March of Dimes, which helped the Spohr's during Heather’s pregnancy and Maddie’s hospitalization after her premature birth. You can go here to donate in Maddie's memory.

God bless you Heather & Mike. You are in my prayers.

I can't even begin to imagine the pain they are suffering.

I, too, hope that they find comfort knowing that she is resting in loving arms.
