17 and counting

June 26, 1993...

It was the day Julia Roberts wed country singer Lyle Lovett...(yea, that didn't end well)

The day "Late Night with David Letterman" aired for last time on NBC...

And...

The day I married the man of my dreams.

This past weekend, we celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary with three glorious, kid-free days, TOGETHER (which, for those who have been following, know is a tremendous feat in coordinating with his travel schedule).

We explored local treasures.

Snuggled on the couch and watched movies.

Wined and dined.

And relished in the simplicity the weekend brought us.

In honor of our anniversary, and our wonderful dining experience we enjoyed at The Melting Pot (one of our favorite special occassion destinations), I'm giving away a $25 gift certificate good for a Big Night Out at The Melting Pot in Lyndhurst, Ohio. (good through April 23, 2011)

To enter, simply leave me a comment telling me your favorite anniversary memory.

For an extra bonus entry, tweet:

Don't forget to leave me a separate comment for each entry. Contest ends at noon (EST) this Friday and a random winner will be selected.

Disclosure: I was not compensated for this giveaway...in my zest to save a few dollars, I purchased four $25 gift certificates to The Melting Pot from Restaurant.com before realizing that I could only use one per visit *sigh*. Consider it my anniversary gift to you.

Every Anniversary is my favorite one! Our Anniversary is on March 6th and both of us also share the same birth date. And yes it is March 6th. I choose the date to marry so I would never hear my husband say "Oh, honey I am sorry I forgot our anniversary". We start celebrating by taking the day off. We begin early in the morning by going out to breakfast. Then we head out and take a short road trip, where we have lunch some place different every year. Then we head back home and get ready for dinner. And for every year that we have been married we go to the Pomeroy House in Strongsville and have a delightful dinner in the private room. This has become quite the tradition in our house and look forward to our picture being taken by the staff and special eclair dessert.

Sounds like you guys had an excellent anniversary!! Hmm, my fave anniversary memory has to be this past year, even though we weren't together he wanted me to go and do something that I loved and when I got back back home he had left me a bunch of surprises in my office and we had a very nice dinner when he got home from work. We rarely do anything special for our anniversary because of his crazy work schedule (which I know you understand) and get very few date nights (altho he hates when I call them that..LOL)

last year on our 2nd anniversary, we had our first ultrasound for our first baby...i intentionally scheduled it on our anniversary bc I knew it would be a momentus event. We found out our baby looked good and was a boy! We proceeded to celebrate by shopping for a new car-a family SUV and decided on one that day...a little over a year later, our marriage is going strong and we have a beautiful 9m baby boy!

My favorite anniversary may have been this last one. It was our tenth and I had dreams the last few months of doing something big...maybe a family trip. Well my Mom passed away after a lengthy illness in December and any dreams I had were put on hold. So when our anniversary came around, instead of living it up, my husband knew instinctively that I would rather just spend it at home, snuggled on the sofa. He made us dinner and brought me wine. It was the perfect way to prove that yes, I chose the right man for me.

hmm...fav anniversary? 6 great years but have never done anything above and beyond. Hubby is notoriously bad at surprises. Although for our 5th he contacted the jewler in Boston that made my engagement/wedding rings to have an anniversary band made. VERY forward thinking for a man that usually buys a card on the way home. It arrived (in time!) and was the wrong ring! He was crushed but I thought it was endearing.

I don't have many anniversary memories to choose from, we had our first in May! In the spirit of the true romantics (ha!) that we are, we spent our day at the zoo, and ended the way with Indian at Cafe Tandoor, which, if you've never been to, absolutely should!

For our anniversary, we went out of town on an "adventure trip". We stayed in a hotel we'd never been to, went to a new casino (we'd never gone together), ate at a new restaurant, and explored around the city. It was so much fun having those new experiences together!
