Miss Monkey will officially be turning 5 on Jan. 9 (Tuesday), but we decided to hold her party this weekend. She is very much into dressing up and being a "princess", so she decided to wear a fancy purple dress (her grandma W's favorite color she always says) and one of her new crowns. After lunch she opened presents and then it was on to the cake--a treasure chest. Miss Monkey picked this out a long time ago from one of our kids cookbooks. It looked quite simple, but I must admit this was one of the most frustrating ones for me...the lid kept falling backwards and falling apart. Let's just say it almost went into the garbage a couple times. Miss Monkey, bless her heart, didn't seem to notice and said it was the best cake I ever made. That made it all seem worthwhile. After dessert, she and Mr. B enjoyed the afternoon playing with all her cousins.
